Cyber-criminals are adept at creating new and insidious methods of infiltrating data infrastructures. Advanced malware attacks wreak havoc in many ways, from stealing data to shutting down operations. Today’s attacks are far more sophisticated and difficult to identify than standard signature-based security products can handle.
Unfortunately, most organizations are playing catch-up when it comes to protecting their environments from these security threats. According to recent ESG research, of the organizations surveyed that had experienced a successful malware attack in the past two years, a mere 17% had suffered only one such attack (see Figure 1).[1] The overwhelming majority–83%–had experienced multiple breaches. Within this group, 32% suffered between two and five attacks, and another 30% suffered more than ten.
