Research Brief: ESG Vertical Opportunity Index Score (VOIS) Highlights Industry-Specific 2009 IT Spending Intentions
ESG Research Brief
Feb 27, 2009
The effect of the global financial maelstrom on 2009 IT budgets is shaping up to be felt most acutely in the first quarter of the year. This is especially true in the case of hard-hit industries such as financial, retail, and manufacturing. Survey data finds that IT purchase activity will accelerate in Q2 and Q3, although spending levels will vary considerably by industry. ESG’s Vertical Opportunity Index Score (VOIS) reveals that health care and government are the most promising industry verticals for IT spending in 2009, while financial, manufacturing, services, and retail will pose more challenges for prospective IT vendors.
