Many organizations that use solid-state storage attribute their initial adoption of the technology to an attempt to solve performance challenges. In fact, previously conducted ESG research revealed that the majority of early solid-state storage users cited the alleviation of I/O bottlenecks caused specifically by the demands of server virtualization as an initial adoption driver. Recent findings uphold that strong connection between server virtualization and the adoption of solid-state storage–especially at the underlying server level– and suggest that organizations will look to expand this relationship going forward.
