Traditional applications cannot keep up with modern development processes that enable faster development, and increased team collaboration. Successful security programs require a modernized developer-focused approach to efficiently incorporate security tools and processes across the software development lifecycle. Developers need to be empowered to secure their own code within their workflows and tools so that they can find and fix issues efficiently. However, developer-focused security requires goal alignment and collaboration between teams to support rapid, efficient development processes, while security teams can effectively do their jobs to mitigate risk and rapidly detect and respond if and when there are security threats or attacks.
To understand these trends and the resulting market dynamics, Omdia executed a survey of 400 IT and cybersecurity professionals at organizations in North America involved with security technology products and services to support secure application development.
