Email and messaging security is increasingly critical, as organizations face constantly evolving threats. Email remains particularly vulnerable because it combines human factors with technical weaknesses, while threats now extend to enterprise messaging platforms. Specifically, enterprise messaging applications like Teams and Slack have become primary vectors for sensitive information exchange, creating an expanded attack surface that threat actors exploit through social engineering, malware distribution, and credential theft.

How are organizations adapting their email and messaging security strategies to address diverse threats—including ransomware, business email compromise (BEC), phishing, smishing, and targeted messaging attacks—while navigating cloud adoption and integration with broader security architectures?

To gain insights into these trends, Omdia surveyed 385 cybersecurity and IT professionals in North America (U.S. and Canada) responsible for email and messaging security technology products and services at their organization.
