As application environments become increasingly distributed across disparate locations such as data centers, cloud provider ecosystems, and colocation partner sites, complexity mounts for IT decision-makers and application owners.
New cost analysis and migration tools offer greater insight and application flexibility, helping organizations better understand their environments and discover potential issues with security and data governance more quickly and effectively. Meanwhile, emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence are changing the ways organizations evaluate cloud partners and deployment locations. As a result, loyalty to cloud providers is tenuous, and the perception of on-premises infrastructure is improving.
To gain insight into how these trends impact strategies related to the deployment and migration of applications, Enterprise Strategy Group surveyed 366 IT professionals and application developers at organizations in North America (US and Canada) responsible for evaluating, purchasing, and managing applications for their organization.
