Arista Networks recently announced Cloud Connect, an interconnect solution for spine switches between data centers. This includes (1) Spine Transit: a long-haul optical Coherent DWDM, 6-port 100G line card with integrated MACsec encryption for the Arista 7500E Spine switches; (2) Spine Interconnect: VXLAN-based Layer 2 service extension between sites; and (3) Spine Peering: Arista EOS support for full Internet routes. Arista’s approach of extending its traditional VXLAN approach to inter-data center connectivity will create a smooth path for existing Arista EOS users. Arista customers can benefit from guidance on the specific use cases where features such as selective route download (SRD) apply to their workloads.
